Anyone who has been in the restaurant business as I have knows the importance of good service and a welcoming atmosphere. Great food is only part of what it takes to create a pleasurable dining experience for your customers. Unfortunately, no one ever mentioned this tidbit to the managing staff at Sonsie. The food there was delicious (except for the dry chicken that one in our party got and desserts that were average). The six of us tasted each others' appetizers and desserts and were in awe of how delicious the food was. How sad that we won't return to this spot because of the ridiculous wait (dinner took 4 hours), unfriendly waitress, and managers who offered nothing more than excuses for their restaurant's serious service issues. We waited at our table for fifty minutes before getting our appetizers, and things went downhill from there. The manager explained that there was a new menu checnge, which was slowing things down. Interesting that he kept repeating that even though that's really his problem, not mine. If you and your staff can't handle seasonal menu changes, then maybe it's best not to change your menu. You see, the three couples who got babysitters, drove an hour and a half from New Hampshire, and spent $600 on dinner and drinks in your restaurant were the ones whose evening was ruined by your lack of interest in pleasing your customers. The best thing the manager had to offer was that hopefully the next time we came we could be seted in the diningroom and receive better service. Are you kidding me? That's the best you can do? Luckily, I got the best of them as I turned numerous potential customers away while waiting for the valet. And even more lucky for us... Boston has so many good restaurants to choose from that Sonsie never needs to revisited.
